I can count the number of turkeys I have bagged in my lifetime without getting to my toes. Two of them were while squirrel hunting and in fact the fall has been much better for me personally. However, quite a drought in turkey-bagging has been going on in general for us, certainly for me, so this was welcome.
BTW Sylvester passed away, and his decline had a lot to do with the decline in our luck!
Will have to give the story over a beer sometime, but in a nutshell this bird gobbled for a while, clammed up, then responded to a closer approach, which is very tricky. Buddy is not that good a caller [not as good as Sylvester] but he is good at the tactics, which is the hardest part to do right.
I guess we will find out whether or not I should be blogging. But here goes; I really can get going on some of these things, so we'll put it out there and see if we get yawns, catcalls, or maybe some responses.

A Spring turkey! I am impressed. Cannot wait for details. -F

Thanks, btw.
