Well, I looked, but I never would have guessed that being the reason. We aren't really taught much about that in school, I imagine partially because some of those things are just starting to come to light.
I read Mao's Last Dancer, and it also makes it seem probable. It really made me realize how lucky I was to have grown up where I did.
This sounds feasible since China has so much of the world's pop.

Any little demographic tick in China skews the statistics. The "recent" rise in 3rd world per capita incomes comes mainly from modest increases in China and India.
I guess we will find out whether or not I should be blogging. But here goes; I really can get going on some of these things, so we'll put it out there and see if we get yawns, catcalls, or maybe some responses.
