Ok, I know I'm supposed to feel sorry for that lady because she lost everything she owned to that a**hole Madoff.
BUT, I somehow find it hard to be sympathetic to someone who has a condo in West Palm Beach, a studio in Manhattan, and lots of "nice watches and pearls". I guess she earned it all -- she worked hard and saved her money. However, if she'd used a modicum of common sense and hired an accountant/financial adviser instead of a Columbian maid, she might not be in the jam she is today.
I certainly also feel she paid for some big mistakes. And if you want sympathy, don't whine "now I won't have a maid, etc, etc." Furthermore someone who is " an artist, bestselling author, former editor-in-chief of Self Magazine, etc" is going to be OK.
Earned it all? Probably inherited a lot too.
Nonetheless, it's the sort of story that puts your own problems in perspective.
I guess we will find out whether or not I should be blogging. But here goes; I really can get going on some of these things, so we'll put it out there and see if we get yawns, catcalls, or maybe some responses.
